Affiliate Marketing Any Good ?

There are lots and lots of affiliate programs out there, and a lot has been written about each and everyone of them (in fact the same act of writing about them is part of the program), but there are few talking about the generic essence of affiliate marketing, and if really is Affiliate Marketing any good. A lot of us are already in the business, fair enough, but still we get a lot of referrals that don't really know what they are getting themselves into, this hub is for them.
There is really no harm in wanting to make money from affiliate programs, but you really should learn a bit more about the essence of these types of business before jumping in.
What is this ?
In a regular commercial transaction, there is only a buyer and a seller, and the seller makes the sales directly to the final costumer, so now you are thinking, well why is there a need for a third element in this? That third element is the Affiliate, and you can think of it as a sales enhancer, because in the sellers point of view it only exists to boost sale numbers at a low cost. So in fact sellers do need affiliates, if they want to get that extra edge and have a huge boost in sales.
What does the Affiliate do really ?
Well that is an easy one, the affiliate finds ways to promote the product he is trying to sell, making a commission from each sale (a fixed or variable %), this is good for the affiliate because he doesn't have to create a successful product, just needs to market it, and good for the seller because he just has to come up with a decent product and the affiliate does the marketing.
All in all this is good for everyone in the chain, also good to the buyer, as often affiliates provide inside information about the product they are about to buy, making it a more knowledgeable purchase.
So answering the topic question of is Affiliate Marketing Any Good ? I would have to say yes, it is perfect for the Internet driven society that we live in these days.

I haven't had any luck with affiliate marketing as of yet, but once I figure out how to make it work, ther won't be any stopping me!

Yes of course, i'm just scratching the tip of the iceberg here, i do get curious every time i hear about a new one and my best advice on that matter is go to the forum of the program (if it doesn't exist or is somewhat slow, just forget it) and look for main difficulties encountered, that is really the best indicator you can have that the program really works for all, and not just the autor or an elite.

Do take your time mate, and focus on a specific subject, often in the start we get really (i mean really) overwhelmed with information on things to do ... and end up doing nothing. So one step at a time, and this business should be treated as one as it does take time and hard work.
I'm sure there way be out there some sort of Quick and Easy way to make a lot of money online, this is not it, and really you and I just shouldn't crave for it, as it won't happen :).

I think is time you need to come out a hub that teach others how to promote the program.
As affiliates, we know how hard to success in making its money, but after the hard work,when we actually saw the income then is different things.
So as well we tell others the way to success, better we just tell them how we success and show them our income proof.
Although they will suspect the proof of income, but soon they will agreed to our success.

True tommy, but if you take a look at my other hub (how to be successfull with Tissa Program) there is a section were i teach and give usefull tips i'm currently using to promote affiliate programs.
As i go along i will probably make other hubs showing my own mistakes and the route that is actually working, but atm i think it is still an early stage to do that; but if you go trough that hub i just mentioned you will have material to work on for months (after all it is what i am doing).
Yeah, affiliate marketing is not that easy. The learning curve is very high and you will probably quit before you learn anything.
But, I challenge any person that stick to it for at least a year. You are learning something new. You are attempting to learn what takes some people over 4 years in college in a few months.
Its a little impossible. But because the sales page say it is easy, we get suckered in.
Marketing is hard and getting the hang of it is not easy either. so, yes affiliate marketing is good but you have to give yourself some time to get good at it.

Would you agree that more than half the affiliate products out there are no good? That's half the battle finding a good affiliate program.
