Kimbo Slice versus Roy Nelson
I'm not really an hardcore fan of UFC, but i do like to see the occasional fight here and there, and also enjoy watching some charismatic fighters (for the bad or good really), one of these being Kimbo Slice. This fight will take place on the next episode of "The Ultimate Fighter HeavyWeights", this is part of an eliminator process, in which the winner still needs two more wins to go for the live final in November and nail a big contract with UFC.

Kimbo Slice
What is there to say about Kimbo, born in Nassau but moved to Miami, used to be a bodyguard on an adult industry company, first started in street brawls but is well known because his fights got up on youtube (you can check them out). He might have pulled it of on the streets, but at MMA he still has a lot of skill to learn and prove, as Kimbo really only does punches and seems pretty much green the other skills (ground, kicks ...) needed at this sport.

Roy "Big Country" Nelson
Roy is from Las Vegas, worked as a fighter trainer in his home town, until decided to step up and play the game also. He is one of the top players on the rise at the moment, do not be fooled by his apparent lack of condition, for a heavyweight he is very fast and agile. Black belt in jiu jitsu under Gracie himself, and since he joined IFL has been constantly improving his stand up fight, at the moment he is known to pack the occasional decisive punch.
MatchUp
Getting behind all the hype, what we have here is a fight from a relatively inexperienced athlete that does pack a mighty punch, but that is really just about it from Kimbo, versus an experienced fighter that won many tournaments, was trained by a lot of big names. Roy is really on the rise and starting to move away for the underdog position we used to see him in against big names, becoming more and more one of the main contenders.
Just looking at stats, Roys seems to take the edge, as soon as they get in the ground i think he will nail it after tiring the opponent a bit. On the other hand, Kimbo can and will throw deadly punches, if one strikes the target cleanly Roy will have his share of trouble also. So like all matches it can go either way, if i were to bet on this i would go for Roy, just because he is overall better, and will take Kimbo into submission. Something extra to take in consideration is that both fighters come from a loss, Kimbo was against Petruzelli in a 14 second match, and Roy is coming from a 2 fights losing streak; that should pump them up more to snag the win.
We must not forget that both fighters have been training hard, Roy working more on the standup, and i hope Kimbo realized he needed ground skills, at least defensive. So don't forget to check out who wins this next episode of The Ultimate Fighter, this 30th September.
Match Review
Like i was assuming it would happen, Kimbo did fall under the name of Roy Nelson, not the way i was hoping it would happen, but still the outcome was the same. Both fighters played their game on the 1st round with roy making it's way on the ground but couldn't get a submission, the 2nd round was more of the same, until they hit the ground again, and i don't know, maybe they were both tired, as really nothing much was happening, Roy landed some girly punches, Kimbo didn't do much either, and was just being plain passive taking the hits, so eventually the ref called it a night and Roy Won.
Was really hoping for more, and not a TKO from the ref at that stage, but Kimbo did show he just sucks at the ground, and that Roy is just a better overall fighter.
