Shutter Island Review

Introduction
Based on the novel by Dennis Lehane, author of "Mystic River," "Shutter Island" is the brand new Martin Scorsese film about to come to our cinemas.
After a delay to the American release date, originally scheduled for the autumn, Scorsese returns with a psychological thriller hard and intense, set in the early '50s, during the Cold War.
Plot
The starting point of the film is the disappearance of a dangerous
prisoner at a state establishment that, even if initially looks like a
high-security prison, soon we discover that it is a well kept and
isolated madhouse, precisely on the island that gives the film its
name. The discovery of this and all the secrets that unravel from here
on, are done by the hand and mind of federal agents from the U.S.
government Teddy Daniels (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Chuck Aule (Mark
Ruffalo) a path overshadowed by a large and heavy number of suspicions.
In this psychiatric hospital where everything and everyone - from the
methods of treatment, the goals of these methods, to those who perform
them, as well as the patients - seem to have something to hide and a
strong reason for this, the film clings you on the action in an
intricate network where reality and psychosis encroach.
Determined
to show the world the truth about the horrors they seem to be doing in
that island, Daniels investigates with his co-worker - and us viewers
with them - the mesh of confusion in which their own shadows of the
past are steadily gain ground, leading to a point totally unexpected.
Public Feedback
There have been various reactions on whether this movie should be compared to his latest works , like "The Departed" or "The Aviator," Scorsese has certainly produced another one of his black and tick movies, tailored to viewers that can handle strong emotions.

Thank you for this review Pisco. I love Scorsese and enjoyed watching this nightmare on Shutter Island. It reminded me of so many other movies I have seen. Dark twists and turns. Kafkaesque!
